SxSW 2016 Diaries: They Came For Shirts and Swag

The first two days of South by Southwest were, in a word, thrilling. In another word, exhausting. We saw thousands of people pile into the Austin Convention Center for sweet swag and more. For those not in the know, the South by Southwest Interactive portion of the annual festival in Austin features digital creativity and cutting-edge technology at its most hip. It’s also a boon for monsters looking for free swag. Glazed-eyed folks come to SxSWi in droves just to get their greedy hands on free swag. And companies are all too happy to give it to them.

To wit: Favorite overheard quote of the day came from a surly SxSW Interactive attendee, who quipped to his wife, “If it ain’t free, I ain’t fucking with it.”

Beautiful.

On the swag front, Social Imprints, our parent company, created custom shirts for people right on the spot. For a $5 donation, folks lined yp around the booth (it has been the most popular attaction at SxSWi yet) for a shirt and custom tote.
