The apparel industry is expected to get a pretty large bump from a highly unexpected place.  According to SandlerResearch.org, which recently released its forecasts for the future global safety apparel market, the global safety apparel market is expected to grow 8.12 percent from 2016 to 2020. Some key driving forces behind the predicted spike in market growth are increased quality and potential customization.

We’ve also got to give a big ol’ hand clap for nanotechnology. The Global Safety Apparel Market 2016-2020 report cited nanotechnology as another key trend contributing to market growth. The demand for increased thermal, mechanical, chemical, and biochemical hazards protection has soared. In response, manufacturers have incorporated specific nano fibers within the apparel design to meet the heightened needs of the industry. Similarly, suppliers are basing their key selling points on the foundation of providing the same great product but with better branding and  customization options.

In 2015, North America was responsible for approximately 42 percent of the safety apparel industry’s revenue market shares.  Thanks to a continuously improving economy and the availability of relatively cheap natural gas, North America is anticipated to stay the biggest contributing region to the protective and safety apparel market’s growth.

So just how many dollars is the industry supposed to rake in? One MarketsandMarkets study projected the protective clothing market would reach $9.3 billion by 2020. Thermal protective clothing was cited to be the largest area for growth. This is great news for promotional apparel suppliers and distributors. Now marks the perfect time to consider expanding product offerings to include protective and safety apparel.
