Tech titan, Best Buy, is going green. The company recently announced it will be making great strides to be more environmentally friendly, beginning with its promo products. First on the docket will be gift cards.
The recently unveiled “Go Green” gift card is completely made of recycled paper. Unlike traditional PVC cards , which are usually not accepted in city recycling programs, customers can feel guilt free when tossing this card into their recycling bins when they’re done using them.
“By using paper, we want to help reduce the amount of plastic that’s thrown out,” Best Buy said in a statement to EPR Retail News.
Best Buy acquired Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper, in order to create the recyclable card. Moreover, water-soluble ink was used for printing in place of the previously used solvent-based ink. Lastly, Best Buy incorporated water-soluble glue to paste the card together.
“We’re talking sustainability from start to finish,” the Best Buy added in their statement.
