hoverboard recall

Without question, the hoverboard was the number one holiday of 2015. Now, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that World Trading, Valencia, Calif., is recalling its Orbit self-balancing scooters, otherwise known as hoverboards, due to a risk of overheating and catching fire.

This comes after the CPSC recalled more than 500,000 hoverboards in July, following the commission’s ruling that all available hoverboard products as unsafe.

However, the recall is not coming from reports of injuries or incidents, rather World Trading and the CPSC see the device’s design complete with the product’s lithium-ion battery as a huge red flag for overheating.

It is recommended that all customers stop using the product immediately and contact World Trading to exchange their products for free, UL-certified replacements.
